The summer slide overwhelmingly impacts kids from lower income families more than others. It is reported that by the end of the 5th grade, students from lower income families are often 2.5 years behind their peers. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

LAST CHANCE!! The final collection date for Chromebooks is Thursday, June 11 from 4-6 pm. To avoid any late fees, please drop off the device, charger, and bag at SYLVAN HILLS MIDDLE, ROBINSON MIDDLE, MILLS UNIVERSITY STUDIES HIGH or MAUMELLE HIGH. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

Teachers spend valuable classroom time at the beginning of each school year to catch up students who have fallen behind where they should be. It can take 4-6 weeks to re-teach students the material they forgot. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

By the time students get to high school, the learning loss caused by the summer slide can create a performance gap of 2-5 years. But simply practicing some skills will keep your student sharp heading into next year. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

The summer slide is real and students can lose more than 2.5 months of math skills, 2 months of reading skills, and multiple grade levels of abilities without putting what they have learned this list year to practice. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

Many students have already closed their books and won't open them again until school is back in session. This puts kids at risk of falling behind and lower standardized test scores. We will provide facts and tips to avoid the summer slide here. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence
